Auditing Clerk

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Auditing Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. The Auditing Clerk will provide essential support in the execution of internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our financial records and supporting informed decision-making within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and execution of internal and external audits, adhering to established audit procedures.
  • Collect and verify financial data from various sources, including accounting systems, bank statements, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare audit schedules, work papers, and reports documenting audit findings and recommendations.
  • Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies, escalating issues to senior auditors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all audit activities and documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in Canada.
  • Support the audit team with data extraction and analysis using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Canadian laws and regulations pertaining to financial reporting and auditing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Audit Manager or Controller.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized Canadian institution.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with accounting software systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations would be beneficial.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA Candidate) are desirable.
  • Experience with audit procedures and methodologies.
