We are looking for a Summer Student Service Desk Associate who enjoys working with people, is eager to learn, and wants hands-on experience in customer service, business operations, and equipment service.
Position Summary
As a Summer Student Service Desk Associate, you will be the first point of contact for many of our customers.
You will help customers drop off tools for repair, answer phones, process completed repairs, collect payments, and support our service team with administrative tasks.
This role is ideal for students interested in business, customer service, trades, engineering, technology, operations, or entrepreneurship.
No prior tool repair experience is required. We will train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome customers professionally
- Answer incoming phone calls
- Respond to customer inquiries
- Direct inquiries to appropriate team members
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience
Tool Intake
- Receive tools for repair
- Collect customer information
- Record model and serial numbers
- Create repair tickets
- Explain the repair process and timelines
- Verify warranty information when applicable
Tool Pickup
- Locate completed repairs
- Review repair summaries with customers
- Process payments
- Complete customer pickups
- Answer basic questions regarding completed repairs
Administrative Support
- Data entry
- Filing and document organization
- Updating customer records
- Assisting with service desk administration
- Maintaining accurate records
Shop Support
- Organize customer waiting areas
- Assist with inventory movement
- Restock supplies
- Maintain a clean and professional front counter environment
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in high school, college, university, or a skilled trades program
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to multitask
- Reliable transportation to Kingston workplace
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Preferred
- Customer service experience
- Retail experience
- Cash handling experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Interest in tools, construction, trades, engineering, or technology

Compensation
Recommended Pay Range:
- Entry Level Student: $19.00-$20.00/hour
- Previous Customer Service Experience: $20.00-$25.00/hour
Potential for future part-time employment during the school year for exceptional candidates.
