Purpose of Job:  Provides quality instructional, simulation, laboratory, and operational support for the Practical Nursing program and for other full-time health programs as directed.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities

          

Essential Functions of the Job:

  1. Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.  
  2. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvement in instructional, laboratory, and simulation support services.  
  3. Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.  
  4. Provides quality assistance to the Practical Nursing program and other full-time health programs as directed.  
  5. Assists instructors, program leadership, and Student Services with instructional activities related to simulation, skills lab, and other health program functions.  
  6. Prepares simulation rooms, skills lab spaces, task trainers, manikins, supplies, equipment, charts, medication props, and related instructional materials prior to scheduled activities.  
  7. Assists with simulation and skills lab setup, operation, monitoring, reset, and turnover between student groups or sessions.  
  8. Operates or assists with simulation technology, audiovisual equipment, monitors, manikins, software platforms, and virtual simulation systems as directed.  
  9. Maintains simulation and skills equipment, supplies, and spaces in a clean, organized, safe, and instruction-ready condition.  
  10. Assists with inventory, stocking, storage, ordering support, organization, and tracking of simulation, lab, and instructional supplies and equipment.  
  11. Monitors equipment and supply readiness and communicates/completes repair, replacement, restocking, and maintenance needs in a timely manner.  
  12. Assists instructors with bids, quotes, purchase requests, receiving, and organization of instructional, lab, and simulation materials and equipment.  
  13. Coordinates and communicates daily assignments, lab activities, and instructional support needs with program instructors.  
  14. Assists with student learning support activities such as skills practice logistics, testing setup, remediation support, and instructional preparation as assigned.  
  15. Supports student services activities, student enrollment events, and student leadership activities as needed.  
  16. Assists with student contests and instructor preparation activities as directed.  
  17. Substitutes for full-time programs if qualified and needed.  
  18. Fills in for adult programs and front desk as needed.  
  19. Follows industry standards concerning safety and quality of work.  
  20. Maintains discipline regarding SouthernTech policy and the rules and regulations set forth for the program.  
  21. Maintains records related to simulation inventory, maintenance logs, lab usage, and operational checklists as assigned.  
  22. Assists in the development and implementation of procedures, checklists, and workflows for simulation, skills lab, and instructional support operations.  
  23. Participates in orientation and training related to simulation equipment, lab operations, instructional technology, and program support responsibilities.

  1. Perform other tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

III. Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:

Education and Experience:

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree, technical certification,

or relevant coursework in healthcare or technology preferred.

  1. Required: 1-3 years of experience in instructional support, healthcare/office technology, inventory coordination, or similar operational role. 
  2. Preferred: Prior experience with healthcare simulation, audiovisual (AV) systems, virtual simulations tools, lab setup, or purchasing support. 

 

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Systems: Proficiency in basic computer systems and instructional technology. 
  2. Operations: familiarity with inventory control, lab workflows, and equipment readiness. 
  3. Software: strong spreadsheets skills; experience with LEAN or process improvement is a plus. 
  4. Learning Agility: ability to quickly learn and troubleshoot manikins, task trainers, monitors, and virtual simulation platforms.

Physical Requirements:

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sit for extended periods, stand and walk as required in classrooms.
  2. Manipulate computer keyboard.
  3. Keen hearing: (ability to listen to others)
  4. Vision: Close and distance vision required.
  5. Be able to communicate.
  6. Be able to properly and legally operate a school vehicle as required to travel on behalf of the district.
  7. Regularly lifts up to 25 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
  8. Ability to bend and stoop.

 

Work Environment: Primarily an office/clinical/lab/shop environment; walking and working with students and staff. Full-time Program Instructors may work near mechanical equipment on and near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.  Occasionally working around loud noises associated with maintenance machinery, equipment.
