Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician. We are looking someone to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Automotive Technician will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service.

Technicians will use digital vehicle inspections for all inspections, diagnosis, maintenance, repairs and workflow. We are a highly digital shop, using the best digital tools to give our clients a better car service experience. We expect technicians to communicate clearly with the service advisors and take full advantage of the digital inspections to create a clear effective report for our clients. We inspect ALL vehicles that come through our doors, and quote ALL items we identify in order of safety, needed and maintenance. ALL items are quoted and communicated to the client to allow them to make the best decisions for their vehicle based on their needs and budget. Part of this is a courtesy inspection on every vehicle that comes into the shop. We believe it is our mechanics responsibility to give our clients all the information about the state of their vehicle so they make the most informed decisions. Anything less is unacceptable. 

We need technicians who are willing to be curious, who will pursue an effective and quality diagnosis so customers get the best result each visit. You need the skills and the energy to put in busy work filled days. We have enough front end staff to make sure you have the right parts, and all items are quoted effectively to help you stay busy all day and produce lots of quality work. Our goal is to exceed industry benchmarks for performance and sales by creating the absolute best experience for our clients through quality diagnosis and service.

 

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various vehicles, ensuring they meet safety standards.
• Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to complete repairs and installations.
• Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
• Use technology to provide accurate vehicle assessments 
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding their vehicle's condition and necessary repairs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow in the service department.
• Assist in heavy lifting tasks when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through ongoing training.
• Maintain a clear, clean and safe workspace as well as the shop overall, the exterior and all customer spaces as required.

Experience

• Previous experience as an Automotive Technician or Mechanic is preferred
• Familiarity with automotive repair processes, including welding when required.
• Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients about their vehicle needs.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic setting.
• A valid driver's license is required; additional certifications related to automotive repair are a plus.

• Attention to detail - repairs need to be made thoroughly, cleanly and properly to ensure quality of service.
• Promptness - techs need to be on time, ready to work and driven to get the next vehicle into the shop. Approved repairs should be started as soon as possible and completed as much as possible. We aim to do as much as we can with a level of urgency to keep work moving and clients getting their vehicles back in a timely manner.
• Willingness to learn - open to collaboration with other techs and management as well as future learning and training.

 

Pay Structure

Technicians at Craig's are paid an hourly wage $20-$30 and hour depending on experience, as a base wage. Following probation you'll be able to earn "flat-rate" bonus hours based on billed hours. If you sell 90 hours in a pay period, you get paid 90 hours. On top on that we have a labor sales bonus, which ranges from $2 - $8 per hour sold based on labor targets set for the total labor sales of the shop.
