EasyStorage is a growing self-storage company focused on developing, acquiring, and operating secure, convenient, and customer-friendly storage facilities. As the company continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Lawyer to provide legal guidance across EasyStorage's corporate, real estate, commercial, and operational activities.
The Lawyer will provide legal advice and support to EasyStorage on a broad range of matters associated with the company's properties, business operations, contracts, development projects, and corporate activities.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience working with real estate, construction, corporate, or commercial law.
Provide legal advice to management on day-to-day business and operational matters.
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts and agreements.
Support the acquisition, sale, leasing, development, and financing of self-storage properties.
Review purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, development agreements, and related real estate documentation.
Assist with property due diligence, title review, zoning matters, and other real estate legal requirements.
Review construction contracts, contractor agreements, vendor agreements, and project documentation.
Advise development and construction teams on legal and contractual issues.
Support corporate governance and maintain corporate records.
Assist with the formation and management of subsidiaries, partnerships, joint ventures, and other business entities.
Advise on regulatory and compliance requirements affecting EasyStorage facilities and operations.
Assist with customer agreements, storage contracts, terms of service, and related policies.
Review insurance matters and assist with claims and liability issues.
Manage relationships with external counsel when specialized legal expertise is required.
Coordinate and oversee litigation, disputes, claims, and other legal proceedings with outside counsel.
Research applicable laws and regulations and communicate relevant changes to management.
Identify potential legal risks and recommend practical solutions.
Develop and maintain standardized legal templates, contracts, policies, and procedures.
Assist with employment-related legal matters in coordination with HR and external counsel.
Support financing transactions and lender requirements as needed.
Ensure legal documentation is properly organized and maintained.
Provide legal support for new market expansion and facility development.
Perform other legal and corporate responsibilities as required.
Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), or equivalent law degree.
Licensed and in good standing with the applicable provincial or state bar.
3+ years of relevant legal experience.
Experience in commercial, corporate, real estate, or construction law strongly preferred.
Experience with real estate transactions and property development is an asset.
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal professionals.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
Sound business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with executives and operational teams.
