Welcome To Tool Beast - Applying For The In-Store Sales Associate Position

Tool Beast | Kingston, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-time or part-time
Schedule: Weekday and Saturday availability required
Reports To: General Manager or Sales Manager
Compensation: $20/hr + Performance Bonus

Position Summary

Tool Beast is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and results-oriented In-Store Sales Associate to support customers shopping for professional tools, outdoor power equipment, accessories, storage solutions, parts, and related products.

This position is primarily focused on the business-to-consumer retail market. The successful candidate will work directly with homeowners, DIY customers, tradespeople, contractors, landscapers, and other customers visiting the Tool Beast store.

The In-Store Sales Associate will help customers understand their options, identify the right product for their needs, and complete their purchase with confidence. This is a consultative sales role rather than a traditional order-taking position. The associate will be expected to ask good questions, learn how products are used, recommend appropriate solutions, and identify relevant accessories or complementary products.

The associate will represent leading brands including Milwaukee, EGO, Makita, Bosch, SKIL, FLEX, IQ Power Tools, Briggs & Stratton, Oregon, and others.

  • Participate in manufacturer training, product demonstrations, and new-product introductions.

  • Stay informed about current promotions, new releases, product availability, and discontinued products.

  • Learn the differences between battery platforms, tool models, accessories, and applications.

  • Understand basic warranty and repair pathways so customers can be directed to the appropriate Tool Beast team member.

  • Avoid guessing when uncertain and confirm product, compatibility, warranty, or availability information before making a commitment.

Merchandising and Store Presentation

  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked retail displays.

  • Ensure products, pricing labels, promotional materials, and signage are accurate and professionally presented.

  • Help set up seasonal displays, promotional areas, and new-product launches.

  • Maintain a safe and welcoming sales floor, checkout area, and customer entrance.

  • Support regular cleaning and closing responsibilities.

Online and Telephone Sales Support

  • Respond professionally to customer telephone, email, and online product inquiries.

  • Confirm product availability and help customers identify suitable options.

  • Assist with online order pickup, order preparation, and customer verification.

  • Contact customers when special orders or pickup orders are ready.

  • Support customers who begin their purchase online but require additional assistance in store.

  • Ensure sold products and accessories are compatible before the customer leaves the store.

  • Follow established procedures for high-value products, deposits, pickups, returns, and warranties.

  • Protect customer, payment, pricing, and company information.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Tool Beast’s sales, service, repair, parts, warehouse, and management teams.

  • Direct repair, warranty, parts, and technical inquiries to the appropriate team member when required.

  • Communicate customer commitments clearly so another employee can provide effective follow-up.

  • Assist coworkers during busy periods and contribute to shared store responsibilities.

  • Participate in team meetings, sales training, inventory activities, and store events.

  • Help maintain coverage at the sales desk during scheduled store hours.

  • Represent Tool Beast and its manufacturer partners professionally.
