El Gaucho Boise is looking for an experienced fine dining server ready to take the next step into a full-time, salaried Captain role. This is a rare opportunity to grow from the floor into hospitality leadership — developing the operational, financial, and team management skills that define a long-term career in fine dining.
The Opportunity
You'll begin as a server, delivering the world-class hospitality El Gaucho is known for, while building the skills needed to transition into a Captain role. From wine salesmanship to cost control, you'll learn the full business of fine dining from the inside out.
Server Phase
Hourly rate: $12.00 during the 2-week training period, after training $3.35+ tips
- Deliver polished, attentive service across a section of 3–4 tables, consistently exceeding guest expectations
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of food, beverage, and wine to guide guests and elevate their experience
- Enter orders accurately using POS systems, ensuring seamless communication with kitchen and bar teams
- Uphold El Gaucho's steps of service and fine dining standards in every interaction
- Collaborate across front- and back-of-house to ensure smooth, cohesive service
- Handle cash and payment processing with accuracy and professionalism
- Maintain the professional demeanor and appearance that reflect our elevated atmosphere
Captain Phase
Starting rate: $32.00/hour, and growth trajectory upon transition
- Lead, coach, and mentor the service team to sustain high performance and strong morale
- Oversee service flow and resolve escalated guest concerns with diplomacy and composure
- Handle administrative responsibilities including guest feedback responses, SOP development, and quarterly goal-setting
- Track and analyze operational data — inventory, COGS, sales reports — to support restaurant profitability
- Assist in onboarding, training, and ongoing development of new team members
- Act as a wine expert on the floor, guiding guests and actively driving wine sales
- Collaborate with kitchen and management to maintain quality control and service consistency
- Model and uphold El Gaucho's hospitality standards across all team interactions
What we are looking for
- 3–4+ years of fine dining experience with a strong guest service foundation
- Certified or actively pursuing wine certification (sommelier coursework a plus)
- Knowledgeable in wine and spirits, and confident guiding guests through selections
- Proficient in Excel, scheduling software, and reservation systems; Affinity Publisher experience is a plus
- A natural leader with genuine coaching instincts and management ambitions
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities
- A clear, composed communicator — skilled in both collaboration and conflict resolution
- Familiar with operational responsibilities: inventory management, cost control, and scheduling
