The Friends of Gilda's Society Nova Scotia is in the early stages of development. The Fundraising Specialist is required to develop and impliment a diverse, multi-streamed fund acquisition plan for both general operations and our capital campaign with the support and guidance of our the Board of Directors. Qualifications Required University degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations preferred. Minimum three years experience in a professional fundraising position. Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to supervise and motivate volunteers and staff. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sound computer skills including word processing and database management. An understanding of the non-profit, voluntary and social services sector. Ability to work flexible hours. Access to a vehicle. CFRE certification is an asset. Responsible To The Board of Directors. Duties and Responsibilities 1) Donation Acquisition Responsible for the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of all activities related to individual giving. Responsible for the development of a Major/Corporate Gifts Program, including research, identification of potential donors, developing the case for giving and developing and maintaining relationships. Remain current on all legislation and ethical practices pertaining to fundraising. Responsible for the supervision and management of the fundraising database, ensuring the timely distribution of tax receipts. 2) Foundations, corporate and service club funding Research and develop funding proposals for charitable foundations, corporate charitable funds, service clubs and other similar funds. 3) Special Events Fundraising Work with volunteers and Board of Directors to plan and execute major and minor events/outreach opportunities throughout the year to achieve fund acquisition targets. Liaise with and support third party fundraising initiatives. 4) Coordination of Merchandise Maintain relationship with our merchandise providers. Coordinate distribution of sales items to sales volunteers, partnering businesses and community groups. Analyze data and sales trends to present to the Board.
