Job Posting - Electronic Technician/Electrician Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) maintains and operates the Angus L. Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay Bridges that span Halifax harbour. With annual traffic volume in excess of 32 million crossings HHB's mission is to provide safe, efficient and reliable cross-harbour transportation infrastructure in a cost effective manner. Reporting to the IT & Tolling Supervisor, the Electronic Technician/Electrician position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and administration of the toll system, intelligent surveillance system, traffic management system and other bridge technology. Qualifications include: · Able and willing to work from 8:00 am - 4:30pm, and be available for call-in shifts on the weekends. · A clean driving record and a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver's License. · Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, a physical fitness assessment, and a criminal background check. · A combination of two or more years' experience and/or formal training as an Electronic Technologist or Electrician (Red Seal). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Follow HHB safety policies, procedures, standards, Safe Work Practices, and reporting requirements. · Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic management systems, tolling systems and surveillance equipment in all-weather conditions. · Database experience and intermediate-level computer skills. · Work in direct traffic, at extreme height and in adverse weather conditions (i.e. rain, snow, ice). · Use volt/ohm meter, oscilloscope and other equipment and software for testing and diagnostics. · Perform scheduled checks of electronics on HHB bridges, buildings and properties. · Maintain and repair Treasury office technology and equipment. · Complete job-related safety training and skills development as required. · Perform other duties as assigned. Assets include: · Safety training in Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS and First Aid. If necessary, these courses will be scheduled by the employer for the successful candidate to complete. · Able to work in high stress environments with limited supervision in a safety sensitive position. · Able to work independently or in a team in an efficient manner while providing excellent customer service, and exhibiting pride in quality work. · Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude. This is a 10-month term position (December 2018 – October 2019) in a unionized environment, working a minimum of eighty (80) hours per two-week pay period. Overtime, Call-in or Stand-by work will be required based on operational requirements. The hourly wage range for this position is $25.28 - 29.28 which is set by the terms of the collective agreement.
